Artist Statement

As a graphic designer, I strive to create work that resonates emotionally and provokes thought, sparking curiosity and reflection in my audience. My practice is grounded in the belief that design should go beyond aesthetics to evoke meaning and foster deeper connections.

I recently completed a Bachelor in Media Design, majoring in Graphic Design, at Media Design School. Through this journey, I honed my craft and embraced a practiceled methodology an approach I value for its emphasis on exploration and refinement. I believe in the importance of trial and error to transform ideas into well polished outcomes that leave a lasting impression.

A key focus of my design practice is the use of texture and multi-sensory elements to amplify the impact of storytelling. By engaging touch, smell, and materiality, I create immersive experiences that linger in the minds of my audience. This philosophy came to life in my final project, where I explored my family’s cultural identity through a tactile and sensory narrative that transcended traditional design boundaries.

My work has been recognised for its ability to merge cultural significance with innovative techniques. My Hanga Tō Ara project, which visualised the Pepeha of Rangatahi youth to highlight unseen connections within Māori culture, earned two Silver Awards and a Finalist recognition at the Best Awards earlier this year.

In every project, I aim to design with purpose, creating work that leaves viewers not just captivated but transformed and challenged to reflect on the meanings and connections that bind us all.
