Project Info
Emulsion is a multisensory design project that explores post-colonial identity in New Zealand through photography, narrative, and tactile storytelling. Rooted in family traditions and cultural memories, the project uses sensory elements such as flax binding, fish skin covers, and smoked paper to immerse readers in the practice of preparing and smoking fish, a powerful symbol of heritage and self-discovery. By blending personal memoir with collective history, Emulsion invites audiences to reflect on their own connections to family, memory, and cultural legacy, creating an experience that resonates across generations.
